Easy Banana Applesauce Muffins that bake in 20 minutes. Made without oil or butter, these muffins make a perfect healthy snack or breakfast treat.

I love making these muffins for my kiddos. Sneaking bananas and applesauce into these muffins is so easy, and the kids just love them!

The ingredients for these muffins are pretty simple and I usually already have most of them in my pantry. Whenever I find myself with bananas that need to be used before they go bad, I make these muffins. They also freeze well too!

This is a small batch recipe and makes about 12 muffins, which I love because it only takes about 30 minutes from start to finish to make these! If you have a little more time on your hands and want to make more than just the 12, double the recipe.

Add some fun toppings to the muffins!

These taste great on their own, but you can throw all kinds of fun add-ins to these muffins if you choose to! My kids like chocolate chips in them, you can even use shredded coconut or add a little bit of chia seeds for a healthy boost of protein and fiber!

Why don’t you need any oil or butter in these muffins?

The applesauce takes the place of any oil or butter! It really is a great substitute and it tastes great with the apple flavor! If you find yourself without any applesauce to use, you can replace the applesauce with melted butter if you want to.

Ingredients for Banana Applesauce Muffins

Bananas: 3 Bananas that are pretty ripe are needed. They need to be nice, ripe, and soft so they smash well and blend into the other ingredients easily.

Applesauce: The applesauce takes the place of any oil or butter in these muffins. Original applesauce can be used or mix it up with a flavored one like cinnamon applesauce.

Sugar: A little bit of sugar is added to sweeten up the muffins.

Egg: The egg will help everything stick together while baking.

Vanilla Extract: Adds a hint of sweet vanilla flavor to the muffins.

Baking Soda: Allows the muffins to rise and be soft and moist.
