A delicious blender salsa that is done in 5 minutes. Fresh tomatoes make it taste like it’s from your favorite restaurant!

This salsa is loaded with fresh ingredients that give it lots of flavor! I love to use my garden tomatoes for this salsa. However, you can also use canned tomatoes if you don’t have any fresh ones, just make sure it is a good brand that is flavorful, or you can try the fire roasted tomatoes.

Even if I don’t have a garden going, I always seem to have friends or family that want to give me their extra tomatoes from their gardens! I make everything with them, BLTs, tomato sandwiches, marinara sauces, and I am still trying to perfect a tomato soup recipe that I like! I absolutely love the taste of fresh garden tomatoes and think they give this salsa awesome flavor!

There is not a whole lot of prepping in this recipe, just give everything a rough chop up so that it fits in the blender or food processor and then blend! I did take the seeds out of the jalapeno so that it wasn’t super spicy. I also removed the core part of all the tomatoes.

I made this recipe for a small batch but you could double the recipe to make a much larger batch..depends on how many tomatoes you have!

Ingredients for Blender Salsa

  • Tomatoes: fresh ripe and red ones for the best flavor, even better if they are straight from a garden. Roma tomatoes work very well with salsa since they do not have a lot of juice, but any kind will work!
  • Onion: either a white onion or sweet onion will do nice here
  • Jalapeno: use only 1/2 a jalapeno for this small batch recipe, unless you like it spicier. Also cut out the ribs and seeds to cut down on the spice.
  • Cilantro: use fresh cilantro as it gives tons of flavor and wouldn’t be the same without it. Also adds a nice green color to the salsa.
  • Garlic: fresh is best here too because it has the most flavor, but you can use the jar garlic in a pinch.
  • Cumin: this is my little secret ingredient. So little that you can barley taste it but it keeps you coming back for more!
  • Garlic Salt: I always like to throw a little garlic salt in because it brings a hint of a different garlic flavor.
  • Sea Salt: use a good quality sea salt here, I like the Himalayan Pink Sea Salt that comes in a grinder.
  • Black Pepper: also use a good quality pepper here like black peppercorns that are used in a grinder.
  • Lime Juice: use fresh lime juice for the best flavor

How to make Blender Salsa

Ok, super easy guys! Gather all your ingredients and chop up everything just enough so it fits in your blender or food processor. ( I didn’t even take the stems off the cilantro!)

Don’t forget to take the seeds out of the jalapeno..unless you like it that hot!

If you want you can take the cores out of the tomatoes too!

What kind of tomatoes for Blender Salsa?

Ideally Roma tomatoes work best for salsa because they don not contain a lot of juice. But as you can see in my picture down below I did not have Roma and my salsa still turned out amazing! I think that the Roma will just make it a little more on the chunky side. If you have other kinds of tomatoes and want a chunkier salsa, try chopping up the tomato into halves and then squeezing out a bit of the juice before blending it in the salsa mix.

Blender or Food Processor?

Really either will work here, just depends on which one you prefer.

I prefer my food processor on this recipe just because I think it does a better job of chopping things up!

Also helps to layer in the tomatoes and onions on the bottom, and then stack everything else on top, so that the chopping blades can reach them.

Blend until everything is nice and chopped up. Scrap down the sides and give it a stir and then blend again if it gets stuck.

If everything does not fit in your machine, split it into two batches, blend each batch, and then combine them together at the end.

My food processor is on the smaller side so I had to blend mine in two batches.

…..and that’s it!!! So super yummy!!!

It will be a little bubbly at first, but once you let it settle and chill in the fridge those bubbles will disappear.

Pop it in a container in the fridge to chill it before serving!

Lasts for about 1 week when kept in the fridge, however you might find that it will be eaten in one sitting like at my house!
