Homemade pumpkin pie recipe, perfect for the holidays. Easy recipe made with extra spices to make it super delicious!

This pumpkin pie recipe is so flavorful, it is sure to impress your guests! It is a super simple recipe that can be all homemade or semi homemade to make it easier!

To make it easier on myself, I buy a premade crust dough and also buy the pumpkin in a can. Then from there just add some more ingredients to the pumpkin and you are all set!

If you would like to try making a homemade pie crust you can find my recipe for that here in my apple pie bars recipe! That recipe will make enough for two smaller pies or one big pie.

Also if you want to swap out the canned pumpkin for fresh pureed pumpkin that is ok too!

Ingredients for Pumpkin Pie

Pumpkin Puree: The base of the pumpkin pie. You can use either the canned 100% pumpkin puree or fresh pureed pumpkin.

Evaporated Milk: One small 12 ounce can added to make it creamy.

White Sugar: Added to make it a little bit sweet.

Salt: Balances out the sweet flavor.

Eggs: Gives substance to the pie to hold it all together.

Ground Cinnamon, Ground Ginger, Ground Cloves: Added for flavor.

Pie Crust: Large enough to fit a 9 inch pie dish. I usually buy the pre made pie dough but if you would like to make a homemade pie crust you can find one here in my Apple Pie Bars Recipe!

Pumpkin Puree vs. Pumpkin Pie Filling

For this recipe you definitely want the pumpkin puree. Pumpkin puree is just cooked pumpkin in a can. It seems that you would want to use a pumpkin pie filling for pumpkin pie, however I think adding in your own spices and sugar make the pie more flavorful.
