What kind of pretzels can I use for chocolate covered pretzels?

I prefer to use the rods, but really any kind of pretzel shape can be used! Whatever shape you choose, dip the pretzel about halfway in the melted almond bark and then decorate with the sprinkles.

Ingredients for Chocolate Covered Pretzels

Almond Bark (white): A meltable candy chocolate that the pretzels are dipped in. Hardens when it cools.

Pretzel Rods: The rods work well for dipping since they are long, but any shape pretzel can be used. Just dip it in about halfway into the almond bark.

Sprinkles: The sprinkles added can be customized to match any holiday or party theme.

Candy Melts (optional): If you want to a stripe of another color, melt the candy melts, put in an empty bottle with a squirt top, and then drizzle it over the top of the dipped pretzels.

How to make Chocolate Covered Pretzels

The pictures for how to make these show pink sprinkles for Valentine’s Day, but you can use any color sprinkle to match any holiday!

Like I said, you only need 3 ingredients! Pretzel rods, almond bark (any flavor!) and sprinkles.

I just used the white almond bark, but feel free to use chocolate or whatever flavor you prefer.

Oh and don’t forget the sprinkles! I also bought some pink candy melts so I could drizzle on top of the white.

In a tall microwavable cup put a few cubes of the almond bark and cook for 30 seconds at a time, stirring in between, until it melts.

Then take the pretzel rods and dip them in the melted almond bark until it covers about ¾ of the pretzel.  Hold it over the cup and twirl it around until the almond bark stops dripping.

Next, hold over a big bowl and sprinkle on the sprinkles!

I like to keep turning it while sprinkling it so the almond bark doesn’t drip off.

I actually like how they turned out when I mixed all the sprinkles together!

Then set on a pan with parchment paper.

I didn’t have any parchment paper so I just sprayed my pans with a cooking spray and then wiped it off. That worked great, the pretzels didn’t stick at all after they were set.

So after you get a tray full of decorated pretzel rods stick them in the refrigerator or somewhere cold (in my case the garage!) until they are set and cooled. This only takes a couple of minutes!

How to drizzle on the candy melts in a different color

If you want to drizzle another color, let them dry first and then drizzle your second color after its dry. I used the Wilton Pink Candy Melts here in this picture! I melted the candy melts in a microwave safe bowl, then transferred it to a squirt bottle to drizzle it.

Then you can choose to wrap them in cute little pretzel bags and boxes if they are gifts! Or you can eat them right then and there! Enjoy!

Description

Chocolate covered pretzels can be decorated to match any holiday. With only 3 ingredients these are done in minutes!

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Melt 2-3 cubes of almond bark in a microwavable cup, 30 seconds at a time, stirring in between.
  2. Dip the pretzel rod in the melted almond bark until it covers a little more than halfway. Let the access almond bark drip off.
  3. Repeat the first step when you run low on almond bark, to continue to make the pretzels.
  4. While holding the pretzel rod, decorate with sprinkles all the way around, turning the rod as you decorate. Do this over a tray or bowl to catch sprinkles that fall off the pretzel.
  5. Set on a tray or pan with parchment paper on it. Place in the refrigerator or somewhere cool to let dry. They will harden and be set in just a few minutes.
  6. If you are drizzling another color over the top, let the first coat dry, then melt the candy melts and drizzle over the top, then let them dry again.

Notes

  • If you do not have parchment paper, spray a little bit of non stick cooking spray on the tray or pan, then wipe it off. This should be enough so that the pretzels will easily come off the pan after they are dry.
