Bakery style peanut butter cookies that are soft and moist with a chewy center. Easy, fast to make, and turn out perfect every time.
These peanut butter cookies are impressive! They stay fluffy and do not flatten out while cooking! Resulting in a cookie that looks like it comes from a bakery!
I LOVE to make these for people as presents or to bring to parties because they look so amazing!
You can even buy little cookie bags and a bakery box to put them all in to really give it the bakery feel. I do this a lot, especially with my family favorite Cut Out Cookie recipe that people always request for me to make. I think it dresses them up a bit and really makes it special!
My kids do NOT like nuts, so when I bake these for my kids I use the creamy peanut butter, but you can easily use the crunchy peanut butter if you like the peanut crunch taste.
I usually have to make 2 batches of these cookies because my husband and kids eat them all up before I get a chance to even let them cool! My family must be big peanut butter lovers because the same thing happens when I make other desserts with peanut butter in them!

Ingredients for Bakery Style Peanut Butter Cookies
Peanut Butter: Use creamy or use crunchy if you like nuts in the cookies.
Brown Sugar: Gives the cookies a sweet flavor.
Milk: Added for a rich and creamy flavor.
Vanilla Extract: Adds a hint of vanilla flavor to the cookies.
Egg: Added to keep the cookie from falling apart while baking.
Shortening: Makes the cookies airy and soft, and to not fall flat while cooling.
Flour: Added as the base of the dough.
Cake Flour: Used to also make the cookie soft and airy. If you do not have cake flour, that is OK! You can just use regular flour in place of it. Follow the instructions below in the steps.
Baking Soda: Added to make the cookie rise while baking.
Salt: Balances out the sweet flavor of the cookies.
How to make Bakery Style Peanut Butter Cookies
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Then using a mix master, beat the shortening, peanut butter, brown sugar, milk, and vanilla in a large bowl until well blended.
Add the egg and beat until just blended.
Next, combine the flours, baking soda, and salt in a bowl. I use 1/2 cup of cake flour in addition to the 1 and 1/2 cups of regular flour. I think it really helps to keep the cookies fluffy and soft, and from falling flat.
If you do not have cake flour on hand, measure out 2 cups of regular flour and then take our 3 Tablespoons from that.
Gradually add the flour mixture into the peanut butter mixture.
Feel free to throw in any add ins at this point and stir them in. Any kind of nuts or chocolate chips would taste great! My kids don’t like the extras so I just make them without any, which they still taste amazing!
Scoop out dough in spoonfuls onto cookie sheet using a spoon or a cookie scoop. I really like using my cookie scoop because it makes all the cookies the same shape!
Spray a non stick cooking spray( like PAM) on the cookie sheets and then wipe it off with a paper towel. This will help the cookies not stick to the pan after they are baked.
Bake them at 350 degrees for 13-15 minutes on a center rack in the oven.
Once they are done, leave them on the baking sheet for about 10 minutes. Then remove them to cool on a wire rack.
