Easy and addicting puppy chow recipe. A fast and delicious snack made with Crispix cereal, peanut butter, milk chocolate, and powdered sugar.
I love how fast this recipe is made! Super easy and quick for those last minute snack ideas.
This recipe uses Crispix cereal instead of the Chex Mix, which I love because you only need one big family box of the cereal instead of the two smaller boxes of Chex Mix. I also think the Crispix has more flavor than the Chex Mix.
This puppy chow recipe is great for sharing! It does get a little messy with the powdered sugar, so I like to serve the puppy chow in individual cups or bags so that everyone’s hands are not in the same bowl. When you divide it up into individual bags, it is a perfect party snack!

Ingredients for Puppy Chow
Peanut Butter: Creamy peanut butter is the best choice for this recipe.
Butter: Melted with the peanut butter and chocolate for a rich flavor.
Chocolate Chips: Use milk chocolate chips instead of the semi sweet chocolate chips for a sweeter flavor.
Vanilla Extract: Stirred in with the chocolate and peanut butter for a subtle vanilla flavor.
Crispix Cereal: One big family size box is all you need for this recipe.
Powdered Sugar: Used as the coating over the cereal. The melted peanut butter and chocolate will make it stick.
How to make Puppy Chow
Gather your ingredients. Crispix cereal, peanut butter, chocolate chips, butter, vanilla, and powdered sugar.
In a large bowl, measure out the cereal and set aside.
In a microwave safe bowl, add the butter, chocolate chips, and peanut butter. Microwave for 1 minute.
Remove from microwave, stir in the vanilla, and then microwave again for 30 seconds.
Remove again and stir again to blend everything together.
In two separate large gallon Ziploc bags, divide up the powdered sugar evenly. If you have a large paper bag to shake the cereal in, that would work too!
Pour the chocolate mixture over the cereal and stir until all the cereal is coated.
Spoon the cereal into the bags, try to divide equally between the two bags.
Zip the top of the bags closed, then shake until all the cereal is coated with the powdered sugar.
Pour the cereal on parchment paper to sift some of the excess powdered sugar off. Also make sure that none of the cereal is sticking together.
When it’s time to serve, scoop into individual cups or bags!
Store the puppy chow in Ziploc bags or a large Tupperware container with an airtight lid to keep fresh. Keeps for about 1 week.
